USD and yields
Observe the dollar and nominal or real yields with their own timestamps. These can affect gold's opportunity cost, but a dollar move does not determine gold's next move.

The app currently routes its legacy XAU/USD selection to the XAUUSDT perpetual contract on Binance. This is not a spot XAUUSD feed, a COMEX futures contract, or a Vietnamese retail gold quote. Existing results retain the source used for that test. Check contract availability and the source shown in the app.

Before CPI, PCE or a Fed decision, record what your strategy needs to see. After release, distinguish the published figure, any revision and the observed price reaction. A forecast requires its own named source.
Gold ETF demand, central-bank demand and futures positioning operate on different reporting schedules. A quarterly demand report is not evidence of an intraday catalyst.
Test spread and slippage sensitivity around volatile periods. A candle does not reveal every intrabar fill; a stop price is not a guaranteed execution price. Record whether funding is included.
Read the source and its publication time. Separate a confirmed event from an explanation of why price moved.
Write a conditional hypothesis, the price behavior that would confirm it, what would invalidate it, and when it expires.
Use the same instrument, timeframe and data source. Include fees and slippage. Test rules on an untouched later period; use paper observation if the idea cannot yet be expressed as rules.
Keep the original hypothesis. Record failed, expired and untriggered scenarios as well as favorable outcomes.
